Yu-ing Ching was born in Quingdao, China. After World War II, her family moved to Taiwan. While living there she began to write and is now a leading Chinese author of Southeast Asia with fifteen books in Chinese. Today she has become a well-known writer in English. Her first novel, Children of the Pearl, was soon followed by Temple of the Moon, On Wings of Destiny, and River of Lanterns. She now lives in northern Michigan with her husband, four cats and a dog.
