Illustrations by R. L. Crabb have appeared in many books and several magazines as well as a popular daily comic strip called "Roadskill."
Brian Jones describes how they came to collaborate: "I first met R.L. Crabb in the winter of 1995-96. He was a starving artist, and I had money for food. We became close friends. By early spring, we were working together on this series of children's books; I could never have done it without him. His style is perfect for the job, and his interpretation of my ideas is uncanny."
